On April 7th, ROUTES Scholars had the chance to practice their presentation skills at Northeastern’s Research, Innovation, and Scholarship Expo (RISE). All Scholars made posters of their ROUTES research and stood ready to answer questions about their work.

RISE is an annual exposition showcasing the research of undergraduate students, graduate students, post-docs, and faculty from all Northeastern colleges. This year, more than 900 members of the Northeastern community participated in RISE, making it one of the largest events of its kind.

ROUTES Scholars prepared posters and pitches ahead of time, summarizing their research goals, the progress made so far, and most importantly, the impact that environmental health research holds for affected communities. Faculty mentors and ROUTES administrators, including ROUTES Co-Director Akram Alshawabkeh, visited the exposition to see the student presentations and provide constructive feedback. Students also had the opportunity to see what their peers were working on in more detail, highlighting the wide range of research that is included in the environmental health field.
