On Thursday, December 14th, ROUTES held a closing ceremony luncheon for students, faculty, and staff associated with the fourth cohort of the program. The luncheon was held in Stearns Center and gave scholars the opportunity to share some of the knowledge and experience they gained while participating in the program. Over the course of the co-op cycle, three students conducted high-level environmental health research in three different Northeastern University labs. Scholars worked with faculty mentors, graduate students, and postdocs on a full-time basis.
The ceremony began with a light meal and some words of encouragement from ROUTES Staff Member, Lura Slowinski. After finishing lunch, each scholar gave a brief presentation on their work and answered questions from faculty mentors and peers in the audience.
Thanks to the scholars of cohort four–Morgan Hines mentored by Dr. Emily Zimmerman, Biruk Mulaw mentored by Dr. Akram Alshawabkeh, and Rachel Domond mentored by Dr. Sharon Harlan –for all of their hard work! Learn more about these talented individuals at the Current Scholars page.
